Daily Fantasy Basketball plays for February 15th, 2012

Mediocre day yesterday, Affalo, Ibaka and WTF Jeremy Lin, he won the fcking game!

Those three came through big but the other two picks were pretty disappointing. Watson got the shots, he didnt make them and Booker was in foul trouble and only was out there 23 minutes. Those are the breaks at times but if you shuffle three line ups with some steady match ups, you should be able to produce. Once again, I had about $1k left over in the lineup to the left here, I use the freeroll to put all my picks in the same place.

Thirteen games on the schedule, some GREAT match ups, an A+++ day!

Jeremy Lin vs SAC ($6600/$7998/$15424/$138k) The match up is great vs Sacramento. He’s Jeremy f’n Lin. Play him. (Again look at the crazy low price on DraftDay!)

Nicolas Batum @ GS ($6400/$9712/$11169/$111k) Batum put up a huge line last night with 33pts, 4reb, 1ast, 1blk, 1slt and has a great match up vs Golden State. Aldridge left last nights game in the first two minutes with a sprained ankle and will likely sit on Wednesday. Look for Batum to have another big game. He also did this:

Kemba Walker @ MIN ($6400/9538/$10474/$108k) Walker has been very solid as of late averaging 17.4pts, 3.6reb, 4.0ast, 0.4stls over his last five games. He faces a good match up vs Minnesota and should come through as he’s the the go to guy for Charlotte.

Carlos Delfino vs NO ($5800/$7857/$9083/$96k) Delfino has been featured here a few times. I missed the other night but then vs Miami he put up a 24pt, 1reb, 4ast, 2slt line. The match up vs New Orleans is great, he’ll get the minutes and the shots, lets home he makes them.

Chris Wilcox vs DET ($4700/$4976/$5981/$60k) Garnett and Bass are likely out, ONeal is a bit hobbled so Wilcox got the nod the versus the Bulls to start on Sunday and turned in a 11pts, 9reb, 1ast, 1blk line and that was with Garnett playing 29 minutes. Wilcox has a better match up, three days rest and a bigger role to fill. He should start and produce.

Nikola Pekovic vs CHA ($6100/$7863/$12006/$113k) Pekovic has been super steady since KLove’s suspension averaging 23pts, 10.reb, 1.0blk, 1.4stls in his last five games. Another great match up for him and he’s a strong play as in integral part of Minnesota’s offense now.

I would have had a sick day if Mr. Auldridge didn’t twist his ankle. Ended at 253+. Joe how did you take Watson over Calderon?

    • Joe Tall says:

I didnt choose Watson over Calderon. Calderon is typically 33% higher in salary then Watson.

      • the worcester shark says:

yeah I didn’t mean monetarily, I just meant at the PG position w/guys you can’t flex. there was basically watson/lin/westbrook/calderon.

Who do you like better today Blake vs. WAS or Nowitzki vs. DEN?

I asked about lineups the other day. How do you pick multiple lineups without ending up having to root against yourself? I’m in 8 games today and don’t know how to balance spreading out the variance with having a good formula to lead to multiple wins other than just picking one lineup and going with it.

    • Bad Brad says:

I’d pick multiple lineups and try and spread out the risk. I’ve gone with one lineup before in a ton of leagues and some guy totally sucks and you lose all of them.

I’d usually pick 3-5 solid core value picks, a couple of conservative picks where I’m just looking for the guys average and 1 risky pick.

It still takes some luck to win. I’ve been shying away from guys like Howard and Lebron lately. It’s ok to root against yourself if your other team is dominating. You aren’t going to win them all.

Basically… I’m worried that by having multiple lineups, i’ll be betting against myself.

    • Joe Tall says:

I usually create three line ups. I am going to try to write about this in the future, but I barely have the time to get up the picks right now.

      • JamesDaBear says:

I had 3 lineups yesterday over 11 games and only 1 double up win. Really poor showing. Variance, who knew?

I may not be as good as you are at this, but I’ve offered my services before and would do so again. If not in getting your written material out there, but also in editing, which could help reduce your work load.

        • Bad Brad says:

another strategy I use is to pick guys I like around $13,000 and less and then upgrade with my leftover money

          • JamesDaBear says:

I actually go much, much lower than that and then work my way up until I’ve found I’ve identified several excess value candidates and then work in bulk points where I can.

By the way I don’t know if you heard of it but their is another site that has free rolls daily now. It’s just getting started so it has some issues and the prices are off allowing you to have many stars but it’s still free money it’s called Buzzdraft.com if you’re interested.

Wilcox isn’t going to be that great. Garnett and O’Neal are likely playing tonight. Do you ever update these picks before the games start?

Also, Kemba might be coming off the bench if DJ plays.

Delfino has been DelSucko for most of the year and I think he’s unreliable.

I’d rather take guys like Koufus, Deshawn Stevenson and Dahntay Jones tonight.

I do love Pekovic and Lin should have a big game.

    • Joe Tall says:

      Hi Brad,

Welcome to DFS! Garnett is not playing and O’Neal is dinged up a bit. Kemba started vs MIN even with Augustin back.

There are times I will add a pick or make an update with a new blog post, subscribe to the RSS and I highly suggest following me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/joetall

      Good luck tonight,
      Joe

      • Bad Brad says:

I was wrong about Wilcox. It was strongly reported that Garnett was going to play so I thought this wouldn’t be that great of a pick. Good pick and good pick on Batum. I do follow you on twitter. I’m not an RSS guy.
